Wunderline GO: Discover all the wondrous things en route

Did you know that all of the municipalities along the Wunderline route have wondrous things waiting for you? As of the summer of 2021, they can be discovered using the Wunderline GO-app. Each municipality along the line has its own unique and wondrous aspect. Think in terms of a characteristic theme, a (historic) event, a famous person or a very special geographical feature, for example.

They can all be collected along the 15 different routes, transporting you to the most beautiful places in Groningen, Central Groningen, Oldambt, Bunde, Weener, Westoverledingen, Leer, Jümme, Augustfehn, Westerstede, Bad Zwischenahn, Oldenburg, Hatten, Hude and Delmenhorst. What a fantastic fun way to (re)discover all the places along the line!

Exciting tour

An enthusiastic female conductor accompanies you in the app. A compass on your smartphone will navigate you to find each wondrous thing! But take note: the compass only shows the direction and distance to your destination. You need to find your own way there. In doing so, of course, pay close attention to traffic. Along the route, information will be provided on your screen, which may be pictures, videos, audio or text. You can also check your general knowledge in a fun quiz. The ‘wonder tour’ becomes even more exciting when using Augmented Reality. This shows all the wondrous features in 3-D on your phone, to give you the feeling that they are actually in front of you. Would you like to revisit them later? No problem, as you can add them to your collection and take them home. Are you in?

About the Wunderline GO-app

The Wunderline GO-app was developed on the initiative of municipalities along the Wunderline. Its purpose is to make the region better known. The city of Oldenburg is leading the project, which is being executed by Ostfriesland Tourismus and the Province of Groningen/Wunderline project. Wunderline GO was made possible thanks to the INTERREG V A-programme for Germany-Netherlands using resources from the European Fund for Regional Development (EFRD) and by the provinces of Drenthe, Fryslân and Groningen, as well as the German state of Lower Saxony, with contributions from the participating municipalities.

About the Wunderline

The Wunderline project is currently in the implementation phase. The first phase will be completed in 2024, simultaneously with the reopening of the Friesenbrücke railway bridge. At the current time, the Friesenbrücke cannot be used for travel purposes. Instead, buses replace the train connection between Weener and Leer.
